Initial Research

After looking at the design brief I thought I should have a look and see what is already on the market. I found that there are a variety of different shapes and sizes, each with their own pros and cons. I created a mood board to show a snap shot of the different things I found...

I particularly liked the use of wood as I found that this was the least used material and a bit different. It could help my product stand out. I also liked the raised detail and hopefully I can incorporate these elements into my design.

I'm also considering making my product a bit of a luxury item - without increasing the cost too much, as these are to be mass produced. Maybe the packaging could give the feel of quality instead of the actual product. These are factors I will be considering when I start designing.
