- House and protect the circuit board which measures 45.5 x 13.5 x 1mm. The circuit can be shortened to 29.4mm long if required. The housing must fit securely and not allow the circuit to come out or stop the electronics from functioning.
- Be user friendly - compact for ease of storage/transportation. It shouldn't have any sharp corners in case people want to carry it in their pocket.
- Be robust and able to withstand rough treatment - being dropped or snapped for example
- Not be too wide to stop other USB plug ins from being used in the adjacent port. Probably no more than 3-5mm wider on each side than the USB connector.
- Not restrict the USB connector from engaging with the port. If insufficient space is allowed then the computer will be unable to read the data.
- Be aesthetically pleasing and eye-catching.
- Promote my chosen brand.
- Have attention-grabbing packaging that clearly promotes my chosen brand, protects the product and enhances the overall look.
- Possibly incorporate wood into the design.
- Bring a touch of luxury without increasing production costs too much. Maybe have packaging that hints towards luxury
